Daniel Hellmann & Quan Bui Ngoc

3art3 Company

3art3 Company is a dance and music theatre company created in 2011 in Zürich. The company operates as a collective with the aim to work on multi-disciplinary projects with artists from different disciplines and different cultural backgrounds.

Daniel Hellmann, singer, actor and performer, begins his career as a boy soprano as soloist of the Zurich Boy’s Choir. He studies voice with Gary Magby at the University of Music Lausanne (MA of Interpretation) and theatre/performing arts at the University of the Arts Bern (MA in Theatre).

Daniel Hellmann unfolds his talents particularly in projects that unite the different artistic disciplines. His work is characterized by musicianship, creativity and the urge to find and explore a scenic language apt to respond to the questions of today’s society. With his voice as well as his language and movement skills, Daniel Hellmann disposes over a wide-ranging set of instruments for his work, allowing him to be a polyvalent and surprising artist, equally at home in the classical music scene as in the contemporary scenic arts.

Scholar of the Ernst Göhner and the Binding Foundation, he works with various artistic institutions and personalities such as the Orchestre de Chambre de Lausanne, the Zürcher Kammerorchester, the Lausanne Opera, the Tanzhaus Zürich, the Dampfzentrale Bern or the Theater Chur, choreographers Constanza Macras, Cisco Aznar, Marcel Leemann and Silva Ricard, film director Rosa von Praunheim, and performer Ivo Dimchev.

Quan Bui Ngoc (born 1976 in Vietnam), starts his dance training as a child at the National School of Vietnam, joining until 1996 the Ballet of the Hanoi Opera. In 1997 Bernadette Tripier invites him to France. He stays in the dance school of Istres for a year and a half, where he explores contemporary dance techniques. He regularly returns to Vietnam to work together with the Opera or to set up several projects.

He met Alain Platel in 2002 to start working with him and les ballets C de la B for Wolf.  He continued this collaboration with vsprs (2006) and pitié! (2008). In 2009 he collaborated with Lisi Estaras as a dancer in Bolero (2009) and as a co-director in I know a place (2009).

Quan also created Jump or fall (2009) with Juliana Neves and Samuel Lefeuvre. He regularly works together with the drama department of the conservatorium in Ghent. He made there Picnic with the students. Quan also regularly gives workshops in Sweden, Belgium, France, Hungary, Germany and Brazil.
